JAKARTA - Head of the Traffic Corps Of The National Police Irjen Istiono urged the public to postpone the Eid al-Fitr 2021 homecoming.

"It Decisive, prohibiting homecoming, prohibited homecoming", Said Istiono in a written statement received in Jakarta, reported Antara, Friday, April 9.

Istiono stated that his party has held a cross-sectoral coordination meeting on operational 2021 to secure Eid al-Fitr 1442 H during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The coordination meeting discussed variously related to the security readiness of Eid al-Fitr 1442 H, where the government made a policy to ban homecoming", explained Istiono.

He said that this year's Eid al-Fitr will be different. Therefore, he urged all parties to succeed in the elimination of homecoming set by the government to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Istiono stated a challenge for all parties, which is an important point and should be a common concern is to provide a sense of security and comfort to the community ahead of the time and post-Eid al-Fitr.

"Security against all the dynamics of community effectiveness, to minimize the occurrence of disruption traffic safety, order of safety, and smooth traffic, and the spread of COVID-19", he said.

Istiono hopes that police members in the field anticipate street crime and safeguard community activities during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

"Anticipate acts of terrorism and increase vigilance of all possibilities and take decisive and measured action. Do maximum security that becomes the center of community activities such as houses of worship, shopping centers, and tourist attractions so that people feel safe", he said.

Istiono also asked his ranks to increase security from April 26 to May 5 or before the homecoming on May 6 to May 17. The anticipation was done because it was predicted by the public to go home first before the elimination of homecoming began.

He wants the ranks to be ready to anticipate a surge inflows before the homecoming begins. The ranks are asked not to let their guard down so that there is no congestion.
