Tonight, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Will Turn Off Lights Simultaneously for 60 Minutes

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) will implement a simultaneous blackout tonight, Saturday, November 9 at 20.30 to 21.30 WIB. This action is a series of activities for the 2024 National Love for Flora and Fauna.

"We hope that through this action, the public can be more aware of the importance of saving energy and reducing GHG emissions," Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Service Asep Kuswanto said in his statement, Saturday, November 9.

The 60-minute blackout, continued Asep, is also in accordance with the Instruction of the Governor of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta Number 14 of 2021. It is hoped that electricity consumption and carbon emissions can be reduced so that they have a positive impact on the environment.

"By taking these simple actions, we can contribute to preserving the environment and reducing the impact of climate change," he said.

The following are the locations of the blackouts in accordance with the Instruction of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Province Number 14 of 2021, namely:

a. All buildings/buildings of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Office (except Hospitals, Health Centers, Clinics, etc.).

b. Protocol Roads and Arterial Roads.

c. Symbols of the City of Jakarta (City Hall Building; National Monument and its fountain; Arjuna Wiwaha Statue and its fountain; Hotel Indonesia Roundabout and its fountain; Youth Statue and its fountain; Heroes Statue; and General Sudirman Statue).

d. Protocol Roads and Arterial Roads in the five Administrative City Areas as follows:

1) Central Jakarta: Sudirman Street (Dukuh Atas to Sampoerna Strategic Building), and MH Thamrin Street; Around Medan Merdeka Street (except North Medan Merdeka in front of the Presidential Palace), Gerbang Pemuda Street - Asia Afrika Street, City Hall Office Yard, Central Jakarta Mayor's Office.

2) North Jakarta: Yos Sudarso Street, North Jakarta Mayor's Office Complex, and Independence Pioneers.

3) East Jakarta: Dr. Sumarno, Perintis Kemerdekaan Street, and the East Jakarta Mayor's Office Complex.

4) West Jakarta: Daan Mogot Street and Kembangan Raya Street (in front of the West Jakarta Mayor's Office), and the West Jakarta Mayor's Office Complex.

5) South Jakarta: Prapanca Raya Street, Gerbang Pemuda Street - Asia Street

Afrika, Sudirman Street (Sampurna Strategic Building - Youth Statue), and Rasuna Said Street.

e. Several private buildings, commercial buildings, shopping centers, restaurants, hotels and apartments have participated in the implementation of the blackout.
