174 Lapak In Tanah Abang Ludes Goat Market Burned, Losses Reach Rp1 Billion

JAKARTA - 174 stalls in Pasar Kambing, Jalan Sabeni, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, were burned. Losses are estimated at Rp1 billion.

"Object burned 174 lapak. Loss of Rp1 billion," said Public Relations Of Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) DKI Mulat Wijayanto in his statement, Thursday, April 8.

There were 17 fire pump units deployed to the fire site which was reported to officers around 4:50 p.m. Currently the fire in Tanah Abang Goat Market has been successfully extinguished.

"The deployment of 17 pump units with 85 personnel to put out the fire," mulat said.

The fire is thought to have started from an electrical short circuit on two furniture stalls in the market. The fire immediately grew and residents tried to extinguish it.

"The fire was noticed by residents to have grown and residents tried to put out, but the fire was not successfully extinguished and contacted firefighters," Mulat continued.

Firefighters had a problem in putting out the fire at Tanah Abang Goat Market.

"The obstacles are narrow road access, the condition of the road to the crime scene is jammed, and the water source is far from the crime scene," he explained.
