JAKARTA - Member of Commission II of the House of Representatives Agung Widyantoro supports the government's move through the Ministry of State Secretariat to take over the management of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) with the support of many parties.

Members of the Golkar Faction from Dapil Central Java IX assessed that the move will make the quality of state asset management better. But he also called for the takeover not to be politicized.

"All parties should be able to think clearly. There's no need for this to be politicized. The good intention of the government to manage TMII should be used as much as possible for the benefit of the people", Agung said.

TMII which has been controlled for 44 years by the family of the late President Suharto was taken over based on Presidential Regulation  Number 19/2021 on The Management of TMII. This presidential regulation affirms the mastery and management of TMII by the Ministry of Finance and the end of management by the Harapan Kita Foundation.

TMII was first built on June 30, 1972, which was inaugurated by President Suharto on April 20, 1975. Historical and cultural tourism objects located in East Jakarta were the original purpose was to build miniature Indonesia. Through various regional pavilions, Indonesian people are expected to know more about the culture.

Of course, the management that is now taken over by the Ministry of Finance is not expected to remove the original goal of the development of the historic TMII.

"Management by the Ministry of Finance should not erase the historical and development goals TMII. Because history is the inspiration of the future", Agung said.

In the TMII area of 150 hectares, people can find various national cultural uniqueness from various provinces. Also, the long history of this nation through the museum is there.

For example, a miniature relief map of Indonesia and its water supply, Pancasila Fire Monument, Traditional Houses from various regions as well as various museums and animal parks. For example Wayang Museum, Transportation Museum, Indonesian Museum. Which is certainly very useful for public education. Agung asked for good things and a characteristic of TMII not to be changed.

"The mascot of Indonesian history in the form of culture and ethnicity should not be displaced. Because people who can not afford or who do not have money to fly throughout the archipelago can still enjoy the beauty of Nusantara culture through miniature Indonesia in TMII", said Agung.

He also requested that TMII remain a cultural and historical park depicting Indonesian culture and miniatures. Do not let the characteristic change especially if until the management falls into the hands of parties who do not understand the initial idea of development.

"Mastery by the government should not fall into the hands of those who want to wipe out the historical traces of Indonesia's struggle, which is diverse cultures and ethnic groups", Agung said.

On the contrary, TMII should be built to remain an icon of Indonesian culture that can be a lesson for the younger generation about the diversity of the Indonesian nation.
