BPBD: Throughout October There Were 41 Disasters In Sukabumi

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sukabumi Regency, West Java noted that throughout October 2024 there had been 41 disasters spread across 25 sub-districts in the area.

"In October, disasters were dominated by tornadoes or strong winds," said Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section of the Sukabumi Regency BPBD Medi Abdul Hakim in Sukabumi, Saturday.

The number of disasters according to BPBD data, for strong winds 25 incidents, landslides nine incidents, earthquakes three incidents, moving land and forest fires (karhutla) one incident each and two other disasters.

As a result of the disaster, 63 houses were lightly damaged, 35 houses were moderately damaged, and nine houses were heavily damaged. In addition, six houses were threatened, 16 public and social facilities were damaged, and five hectares of agricultural land were affected.

The number of residents affected by 96 families or 305 people, displaced 20 families or 71 people and threatened five heads of families or 18 people. There were no fatalities and missing, while the two injured victims.

This disaster occurred in 25 of 47 sub-districts in Sukabumi Regency, namely Simpenan District, Kabandungan, Cibadak, Cidadap, Caringin, Parakansalak, Nagrak, Parungkuda, Cicurug, Cisolok, and Cidologists.

In addition, Sukaraja, Cidahu, Gegerbitung, Bojonggenteng, Sagaranten, Pabuaran, Warungkiara, Cikembar, Curugkembar, Gunungguruh, Ciemas, Nyalindung, Sukalarang, and Cisaat sub-districts.

"Losses due to disasters experienced by survivors or victims are affected if they are paid up to Rp1.76 billion. The high rate of disaster events, especially hurricanes, is due to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds almost every day, " he told Antara.

He said that in November the potential for disasters would still be dominated by hydrometeorological disasters, such as floods, landslides, tornadoes and others. Even now, there have been tornadoes that have occurred in several sub-districts and the number of affected buildings is still under assessment or data collection.
