JAKARTA - The defense equipment manufacturer, PT Pindad, has started producing Maung Garuda tactical vehicles to target users from ministerial-level officials to regents.
The news was conveyed by the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi after attending the Declaration agenda of the National Solidarity Movement at the Indonesia Arena Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday.
"We are starting to produce. The important thing is that all the enthusiasm is to use Maung," he said, quoted by Antara.
Although it has not revealed how many Maung vehicles were produced, Prasetyo said that the initial stage of vehicle production with the majority supply of domestically produced components was prepared for ministerial-level officials.
After meeting the needs of operational vehicles for 48 ministers, said Prasetyo, the production of the second wave of Maung will target 59 deputy ministerial officials and their level officials.
"The first stage must be a minister. The deputy minister is new after that, if there is more production, we will continue, for all to the regents, governors, hopefully so," he said.

Prasetyo said President Prabowo Subianto had set an example of using Maung's vehicle as a presidential car which is now being modified as a white MV3 Limousine.
"It was used by Pak Prabowo yesterday. You have to set an example," he said.
The Maung vehicle produced by Pindad stole the public's attention after President Prabowo made the vehicle by the nation's children as the presidential vehicle after the inauguration agenda on Sunday (20/10).
70 percent of the Maung MV3 material comes from domestic components, while 30 percent from abroad.
