Entering The Rainy Season, Tree Maintenance And Examination In Bogor Is Accelerated

BOGOR CITY - Entering the rainy season which is predicted by BMKG to start in November 2024, the City Government (Pemkot) of Bogor, West Java has accelerated the maintenance and inspection of trees in its area.

Acting (Pj) Mayor of Bogor Hery Antasari in Bogor City, Saturday, said that currently the city government through the Housing and Settlement Service (Disperumkim) is carrying out maintenance, both periodic and special examinations, although not all have been completed.

"We will accelerate to check specifically, especially the large trees that stick to the road, at least that," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 2.

In addition, said Hery, in the examination if there are trees that are at risk or already weathered, logging will be carried out if needed so as not to endanger the community.

Considering that on Friday (1/11/2024) on Jalan Army Student, Ciwaringin Village, a resident named Rafly (24 years old) died when he was hit by a fallen Angsana tree branch, allegedly due to weathering.

"But, we also have to check other areas in Bogor City, especially before the rainy season like this. Because, maybe there is a disaster and so on," he said.

Head of the Bogor City Disperumkim, Juniarti Estiningsih, said that the branches of the Angsana tree that fell on the victim fell right above the victim who at that time crossed the Student Army Street with his friend. Meanwhile, the victim's friend was injured.

"The fallen Angsana tree a few days earlier has been trimmed, but it seems that the branches are fragile due to extreme weather that changes from heat to heavy rain," said Esti.

He explained that a team from the Bogor City Disperumkim had cut branches at vulnerable points. His party will also continue to monitor and evaluate trees that are prone to extreme weather.

"The priority of Disperumkim is actually the trees on the sides of the road, but sometimes people in housing also need our power to cut down trees, while Disperumkim only has four teams for six sub-districts," he said.

Esti hopes that Disperumkim can add personnel to check tree health so that incidents like what happened to the victim do not happen again.

"Hopefully in the future we can add team personnel to check the trees so that they can maximize services, because we are really trying to minimize unwanted events like this," he concluded.
