JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives Rizki Aulia Rahman Natakusumah said that issues concerning the clarity of regulations to the division of tasks, main points, and functions of ministries/institutions in overcoming online gambling will be discussed in Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
"The laws and regulations must also be clear, the division of tasks and functions of the ministries and their institutions must also be clear, where Komdigi is moving, where Siber Polri (Directorate of Cyber Crime of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency) is moving, where BSSN (National Cyber and Crypto Agency) is also moving. Well, this will be the issue of discussion in Commission I," said Rizki in Bogor, West Java, quoted from Antara, Saturday, November 2.
He conveyed this in response to online gambling cases that continue to emerge in the country. The latest is the arrest of 11 online gambling suspects who are employees of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemenkomdigi).
He hopes that the Ministry of Communication and Digital can boost its programs again in order to ground and educate the public about policies related to eradicating online gambling.
"The public must be better educated because no matter how good the law is, no matter how good the regulation is, as long as it is not bottom up, as long as it is not rooted or starts from the grassroots, it seems difficult to be optimal," he said.
He also hopes that his party can coordinate more intensively with the working partners of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, including the Directorate of Cyber Crime of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) in eradicating online gambling in the country.
He also appreciated the assertiveness of the Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid in responding to the online gambling case involving 11 suspects in his ministry.
"He has conveyed that he will not play around if there are ranks in his ministry involved in online gambling," he said.
He added that efforts to eradicate online gambling in the country have been emphasized for some time by Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives together with the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) which has now transformed into Kemenkomdigi.
"In the future, Commission I will be led by a new leader, many new members, and the ministers will also be new ministers, I am sure their enthusiasm will be even stronger to eradicate online gambling," he said.
Previously, Metro Jaya Police arrested 11 suspects in an online gambling case involving Kemkomdigi employees in Bekasi City, West Java.
"These are 11 people, some of whom are Kemkomdigi employees, among others, there are also expert staff from Komdigi," said Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police Sr. Comr. Ade Ary Syam Indradi when confirmed in Jakarta, Friday (1/10).
Sr. Comr. Ade Ary explained that the employees of the Ministry of Komdigi have the authority to check online gambling websites and block them. However, they abused their authority by not blocking online gambling sites.
