Workers Demand Jakarta UMP 2025 To Increase 10 Percent To IDR 5.5 Million

JAKARTA - A group of workers who are members of the DKI Jakarta Trade Union Confederation (KSPI) held a demonstration in front of the DKI Jakarta City Hall. They demanded the Jakarta provincial minimum wage (UMP) in 2025 to increase by 10 percent.

Jakarta's UMP in 2024 is IDR 5,067,381. The head of the DKI Jakarta KSPI Regional Regulation, Winarso, said that if it increased by 10 percent, the minimum wage in Jakarta would be around IDR 5.57 million.

"In accordance with the needs of decent living in DKI Jakarta, it ranges from IDR 5.3 million to IDR 5.5 million if we hope that the increase will be close to 10 percent," Winarso told reporters, Wednesday, October 30.

The KSPI representative had an audience with the Head of the DKI Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Agency (Disnakertransgi) Hari Nugroho.

To the DKI Provincial Government, the labor group demands that the formulation of the UMP does not refer to Government Regulation (PP) Number 51 of 2023 concerning Wages which is a derivative of the Job Creation Law so that the 10 percent increase in the UMP can be realized.

Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi, according to Winarso, will strive for the workers' wishes to be fulfilled. However, the DKI Provincial Government will still sit down together with workers and employers to agree on an increase in the UMP.

"He will try to give it a chance, he can give it a solution so that it is accepted by workers and also accepted by entrepreneurs, because in the future he also hopes that the economic condition, especially in DKI Jakarta, will run stably," said Winarso.

In addition, workers also demand that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government make local regulations so that each company in Jakarta does recruitment of employees without age limit.

If this demand is not granted, Winarso emphasized that his party together with workers in other provinces will go on strike if the UMP value increases not as expected.

"If the local and central governments do not hear our demands, then it is certain that the labor unions have designed to carry out a national strike, stop production," he said.
