Jakarta KPU Finalizes Citizens' Involvement In The Third Debate Of The Jakarta Regional Election

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Provincial General Election Commission (KPU) said it would again invite public participation in the third debate of the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election. The plan emerged to see the results of community participation compiling questions for the deputy governor candidate pair (paslon) in the second debate which took place on Sunday night at the Ancol Beach City International Stadium (BCIS).

The form of involvement of Jakarta residents is said to be in the form of testimony presented in the upcoming debate event. Even so, the Jakarta KPU has not been able to clearly reveal what kind of testimony will appear during the event scheduled for November 2024.

"Later on, our plan will also have a difference with our system formulating questions. Where there will be maybe direct testimonials from the community, but what format we will still try to finalize," said KPU Jakarta member Astri Megatari when meeting with the media crew.

Previously, Jakarta residents had also been involved in the preparation of questions raised in the second debate of the 2024 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election. The trick is to conduct a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) with a panelist appointed for the theme "Economics and Social Welfare".

The KPU's efforts to play a role for Jakarta residents in the debate of candidate pairs participating in the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election are referred to as a differentiating factor. Moreover, the third debate will be the last forum for each candidate pair to openly convey ideas and programs.

"We want to present the third debate later as a final debate, the hope is that all of the people of Jakarta can be the basis for them to determine who will be selected on voting day," Astrid said.
