JAKARTA - Israel's attack in the early hours of Friday killed three journalists and injured several others while they slept in a guesthouse used by the media in Hasbaya, Lebanon.

The reporters killed were camera operator Ghassan Najjar and engineer Mohamed Reda from the pro-Iran Al-Mayadeen news outlet and camera operator Wissem, who worked for Hezbollah's Al-Manar.

The attack made it the deadliest day for the media in a year of hostilities between the Israeli military and Lebanese Hezbollah militants.

There has been no immediate comment from Israel, which in general denies deliberately attacking journalists.

Five journalists have been killed in an earlier Israeli attack in Lebanon during the conflict, including Reuters visual journalist Issam Abdallah.

Hasbaya is a city inhabited by Muslims and Christians. The attack on Friday, October 25, at around 3 am, was the first to occur in the city itself.

"This is a war crime," said Lebanese Information Minister Ziad Makary.

18 journalists from six media, including Sky News, Al-Jazeera and Lebanese broadcasting institutions, stayed at the guesthouse.

We heard the plane was very low, that's what woke us, and then we heard two missiles, Muhammad Farhat, Lebanese media reporter Al-Jadeed, told Reuters.

He said some of the flowers were damaged. The footage shows the cars capsized and damaged.

We've been reporting from there for about a month without anything happening. I don't even know how I got out of the rubble," Farhat said.
