JAKARTA - The Supreme Court (MA) has temporarily suspended three judges from the Surabaya District Court who were arrested by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) in connection with the alleged bribery and gratification case of Gregorius Ronald Tannur's acquittal.

The three judges who are now suspects are Erintuah Damanik, Mangapul, and Heru Hanindyo.

"After obtaining confirmation that the Attorney General's Office will detain him, the judge will be temporarily dismissed from his position," said MA spokesman Yanto to reporters, Thursday, October 24.

The dismissal of the three judges was a presidential decision based on a proposal from the Supreme Court.

Later, when the legal process is complete and declares the three judges guilty, they will be dishonorably dismissed.

"If later found guilty of committing a criminal act with a decision that has permanent legal force, then the three judges will be proposed to dismiss the President with disrespect," said Yanto.

The three judges allegedly received a sum of money in order to impose acquittal against the defendant Ronald Tannur in the murder case against Dini Sera Afrianti.

Not only the three judges, the AGO also named Ronald Tannur's lawyer, Lisa Rahmat, as a suspect.

So far, the number of bribes received by the judges has not been conveyed in detail. However, from the results of the search at the residences of the suspects, money was found in rupiah and other foreign currencies worth Rp. 20 billion.
