Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai Was Summoned By The House Of Representatives Next Monday Regarding Asking For A Budget Of IDR 20 Trillion

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission XIII DPR Willy Aditya said his party would summon Human Rights Minister (HAM) Natalius Pigai on Monday (28/10/2024). In addition to the introduction, said Willy, Commission XIII of the DPR will ask Pigai for an explanation regarding the additional budget request at the Ministry of Human Rights of Rp. 20 trillion from the total existing budget of only Rp. 64 billion.

"We invite the Minister of Human Rights on Monday (28/10/2024). Later we will ask Mr. Natalius (about the additional budget of Rp. 20 trillion). Later we will ask the trust of our friends (journalists)," said Willy at the DPR Building, Senayan, South Jakarta, Wednesday 23 October.

Willy said that the Minister of Human Rights could have its own considerations behind the budget request of up to Rp 20 trillion. Commission XIII of the DPR, he said, would listen to the explanation of Minister Natalius Pigai regarding the reasons why his ministry had to get Rp 20 trillion and the details for anything.

"Of course Mr. Natalius has his own considerations, has his own references. So, we'll wait for it later, we haven't been able to respond to anything yet, because it's IDR 20 trillion that's whatever he wants to do," said Willy.

However, Willy reminded that budget changes are not possible now. The reason is, the 2025 state budget has been ratified and must wait in the revised state budget.

"In the meantime, of course, the budget is the president himself, we will see later. Then mechanismally we have to go to Banggar, after all, there is no APBNP yet, meaning that we both know that this is moving with the budget we have knocked," said Willy.

Willy said the House of Representatives Commission XIII would start holding meetings with its partners on Monday next week. In addition to summoning Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai, Willy said, next Monday, his party will also summon the minister of law.

Then, on Wednesday, Commission XIII will summon the State Secretariat, the minister of immigration and corrections, and KSP.

On Thursday, his party will summon Komnas HAM, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), the Secretariat General of DPD and the Secretariat General of the MPR.

"So first, we are still in an introductory position, chatting to see what the agenda is. That's what we have decided to just have a meeting at Commission XIII," he said.

Previously, Human Rights Minister (HAM) Natalius Pigai highlighted the Ministry of Human Rights budget which only received IDR 64 billion.

According to Pigai, the budget is not enough to realize President Prabowo Subianto's vision and mission, which pays great attention to human rights.

"Why does the President want to make the Ministry of Human Rights, it means that there is something big to make. So the trancipation team is budgeted. It must be Rp. 20 trillion, only Rp. 64 billion, no, it cannot be conveyed the vision and mission performance of President Prabowo Subianto," said Pigai last Monday.
