Breaking Conflict With 2 Villages In West Adonara, NTT Police Send 96 BKO Personnel

The NTT Regional Police sent 96 personnel for operational assistance (BKO) to East Flores to strengthen the handling of conflicts between villages that occurred in West Adonara District, Adonara Island, since last Monday.

Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Ariasandy, said the dozens of personnel consisted of members of Brimob, Samapta, Reskrim, Public Relations, and a team from Dokkes.

"In addition, there are also teams from human resources that play a role in trauma healing, as well as additional personnel from the Sikka Police, Brimob Battalion B Sikka, and Ende Police," he told reporters in Kupang, Antara, Tuesday, October 23.

He said that the deployment of these personnel was aimed at supporting the East Flores Resort Police in maintaining security and order at the location of the conflict.

Dozens of personnel departed Tuesday afternoon by ferry via ASDP Bolok ferry port, Kupang Regency.

"Today 96 BKO personnel will soon be shifted to the East Flores Police. They will be under the control of the East Flores Police Chief to ensure optimal handling in the field," said the former South Central Timor Police Chief.

In addition to personnel, the NTT Police also sent special operational vehicles, such as field kitchen cars, water treatment cars, and watergen cars.

He said that this vehicle is expected to help the affected communities, especially in the provision of clean water and other basic needs during conflict management.

The Head of Public Relations hopes that the presence of BKO personnel together with the trauma recovery team can restore the situation to a more conducive and help people who are physically and mentally affected.

The police, TNI, and local governments continue to coordinate to maintain order and avoid further escalation.

Ariasandy also appealed to the public to remain calm and leave the resolution of the problem to the officers on duty.

"We continue to coordinate with local governments and local community leaders. The public is asked not to be provoked and to keep the situation peaceful," he added.
