Adonara Clashes, 49 Houses Burned

East Flores Police, NTT, recorded 49 houses on fire and one resident reportedly died during clashes between villages in Ilepati Village and Bugalima Village in West Adonara District.

"The impact of the conflict was that 49 houses were reportedly burned and one person died as a result of being burned in the burning house," said East Flores Police Chief AKBP I Nyoman Putra as reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 21.

There were clashes between two villages, namely Bugalima and Ilepati villages on Adonara Island on Monday (21/10).

In addition to 49 houses and one resident reportedly died, four residents were also reportedly shot by an air rifle including AF (56 years old) shot in the right arm, AP (18) shot in the upper left arm and MS (37) shot in the upper right thigh, and DO (26) who was shot in the left waist.

The victim who caught fire in the house had the initials SI who was a man who was in a stroke.

Currently, residents from the two villages are on guard in their respective villages after the police and TNI come down to keep the conflict from happening again.

Around 45 joint personnel were deployed at the scene to reduce the conflict.

According to the police, meetings between community leaders from the two villages have also been held to find solutions to stop the conflict.

"In addition, the investigative team has also carried out the crime scene related to the burning of houses and victims who died," said AKBP I Nyoman Putra.
