Tito Karnavian Jabat Mendagri, Bima-Ribka Jadi Wamendagri

JAKARTA Tito Karnavian was appointed by President Prabowo Subianto to be Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) and Former Mayor of Bogor Bima Arya and Former Acting Governor (Pj) of Central Papua Ribka Haluk to be Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri).

The announcement was made by Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Sunday night, October 20, 2024, along with other ministers who entered the Red and White Cabinet.

"I plan to launch the ministers tomorrow morning at 10.00 WIB and in the afternoon I will appoint deputy ministers," Prabowo said after announcing the composition of his cabinet.

Tito Karnavian became one of the ministerial candidate figures who Prabowo called on Monday, October 14 to his residence on Jalan Kertanegara, Jakarta. Tito's previous name was often rumored to be returning to his position as Minister of Home Affairs.

Tito Karnavian is a General Retired Police Officer who became Head of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) in 2016-2019. The figure also has a long work and stands out when he becomes a law enforcement officer.

Before becoming the National Police Chief, Tito had also been the Metro Jaya Police Chief for less than a year, namely in 2015-2016. However, during his tenure, one of the major cases handled was the tragedy of the Sarinah Thamrin Bombing which occurred in early January 2016.

He was later appointed Minister of Home Affairs in 2019, by the 7th President Joko Widodo in his second term. Tito was also quite involved in discussions with the DPR regarding the rules for moving the state capital to the capital city of the archipelago (IKN), to regional expansion in Papua.

Meanwhile, Bima Arya is the Mayor of Bogor who served for two terms from 2014 to 2024. The figure of the cadre from the National Mandate Party was the chairman of the Board of Management of the Association of Indonesian City Governments (Apeksi) in 2021.

Bima Arya also wanted to run as a candidate for Governor of West Java for the 2024 Pilkada. However, he canceled his party because his party decided to carry Dedi Mulyadi and Erwan Setiawan.

In addition, Ribka Haluk is a bureaucrat who was appointed by Tito in 2022 to become the Acting Governor of Central Papua. Tito at that time appointed Ribka to be a form of mainstreaming gender equality in the world of leadership.

Ribka is also a Papuan woman who is considered successful when carrying out her duties as Acting Regent of Yalimo in 2021. That way, the government is confident to appoint Ribka as Acting Governor of Central Papua.

Bima and Ribka were also figures who were summoned by Prabowo during the summoning of the deputy ministerial candidate on Tuesday (15/10).
