MUI Chair Hopes President Prabowo Strengthens Democracy And Eradicates Corruption

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Anwar Iskandar hopes that the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto will continue to uphold democracy and eradicate corruption during his reign.

In the prayer session of the Inauguration Session of President and Vice President Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka in Jakarta, Sunday, October 20, he invited the public to pray for the President and Vice President Prabowo-Gibran, to be given the strength to build democracy, and enforce the law, so that they can eradicate corruption in the country.

"O Allah, our God, give our President the ability and strength to build democracy, good democracy, civilized democracy, uphold law and justice, uphold truth, eradicate corruption, eradicate abuse and abuse of power," he said, quoted by Antara.

Hearing the inaugural speech delivered by President Prabowo after being inaugurated, he saw the noble ideals and sincere desire to advance the Indonesian nation from the President and Vice President for the 2024-2029 Period.

"We all see how noble and gentle our President's soul is. So great is his concern for the Indonesian people, he loves the little people so much, and there is such a high sense of solidarity," he said.

Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka took the oath of office as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term of service at the MPR RI Plenary Session at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Sunday.

Wrapped in Betawi traditional suits and fabrics, Prabowo and Gibran took the oath of office smoothly under the holy Koran.

"By Allah, I swear that I will fulfill the obligations of the President of the Republic of Indonesia as well as possible and fairly as possible, uphold the Basic Law and carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible and serve Nusa and the Nation," Prabowo said reading the oath.

Gibran also took his oath as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia. After that, the two signed the Minutes of Inauguration.

A total of 709 of the 731 MPR RI members witnessed the procession of taking the oath of office.

The Plenary Session of the MPR RI was also attended by national figures, leaders of political parties, and representatives of friendly countries. There were at least 20 officials at the level of the head of state and 18 ministerial-level officials who attended the inauguration ceremony at the Nusantara Building.
