Fat Cabinet Mirrors Prabowo's Weakness

Political Observer Ray Rangkuti assessed that the fat cabinet formed by Prabowo Subianto actually reflected the weakness of the Prabowo-Gibran government which was just inaugurated on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

According to him, this weakness can be seen from various aspects. First, weak under pressure from political parties considering that the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet can be called the cabinet which is mostly filled by representatives of political parties.

"Only one party can get 8 seats, the party can only get 2 to 3 seats, that's a new party. In my opinion, this is one of Pak Prabowo's weaknesses in dealing with political parties," he said, Sunday, October 20, 2024.

Aspect kedua, Prabowo tidak hanya menghadapi dengan banyak parpol pendukung dalam pilpres, tapi juga menghadapan dengan pemerintahan sebelumnya. Hal ini terlihat dari masih banyak menteri di era Joko Widodo (Jokowi) yang kemungkinan akan kembali menjabat di kabinet mendatang.

Ray revealed that not all ministers can be invited to rejoin the next government cabinet. Especially if their performance evaluation in the previous cabinet was considered bad.

"When it comes to the economy, maybe we understand, maybe part of the continuation. But if for example the Minister of Youth and others there is an evaluation or not, both performance, morals, and events," he added.

The third aspect, the fatness of Prabowo-Gibran's cabinet seems to show that the new government is not oriented towards facing contemporaryism and the future that has been supported by technological advances. This is because many ministry performances can be helped by the current development of technology, so it does not require a large number.

"In the past, why were there so many ministers, because it had to be handled by people. Now with technological developments, people lead to efficiency and effectiveness, many human work that can be replaced by technology. Very unique in the midst of so many technological developments that can help the efficiency and effectiveness of the government, Mr. Prabowo even raises a cabinet, "explained Ray.
