PDHI Bali Corrects Euthanasia Is Not The Origin Of Illegal Dog Elimination

The Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI) of Bali straightened out the issue of Bali wanting to eliminate stray dogs through their uploads on social media which mentions the humanist euthanasia process.

PDHI Bali Chairman I Dewa Made Anom said the lack of understanding of the term euthanasia made people noisy because they thought that euthanasia was just a process of killing animals.

"It's true that there is a misunderstanding, euthanasia is injecting with drugs that meet standard requirements, not just drugs from death, but people's understanding is not good and there are people who twisted them too," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 15.

It is known that in PDHI Bali's Instagram upload when meeting the Acting Governor of Bali who discussed the control of rabies, the sentence "Will take firm action for stray dogs to be transferred to the right place. For two weeks, if no one feels that they have/no adopts that humanist euthanasia will be taken.

Anom admits that apart from the lack of understanding of the term, the regional regulations they quote also require revision.

"Implementation from the general public about this regional regulation is thought to kill all Balinese dogs, it is better to revise words so they are not biased," he said.

"Because an euthanasia will be carried out on a dog that tested positive for rabies by previously observing for two weeks," he continued.

Anom explained that the process of removing rabies dogs is a solution so that the animals are not tortured, considering that rabies cannot be cured.

So far, PDHI Bali and various elements have helped the Bali Provincial Government to prevent rabies in the form of vaccination, education to the public, and sterilization, but in fact, until now the most cases in Indonesia are still sourced from Bali.

"We are concerned that 15 years in Bali will be nicknamed the 'Rabies Island', we want Bali to be free soon and the door to Ngurah Rai Airport is back open, we can bring the dog in and out safely. Now the dog bites in Bali are the most, the winner and the humans who died are nine people," said Anom.
