Support Prabowo's Government But Not Entering The Cabinet, NasDem: Ethically, It's Not Right To Ask For This

JAKARTA - The NasDem Party emphasized that it fully supports Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka's government even though it is not included in the cabinet. Because ethically, NasDem did not deserve to ask for a ministerial quota because it did not support Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 presidential election.

"From the start, the General Chairperson of Pak Surya (Paloh) has confirmed that NasDem is 100 percent supporting Pak Prabowo-Pak Gibran's government. So NasDem joins the government. That's a firm," said NasDem DPP Chairman Saan Mustopa, Monday, October 14.

"Well, regarding the cabinet, NasDem always says in this, Mr. Surya, this is just a matter of ethics and appropriateness. This NasDem was during the 2024 presidential election, February 14th, it did not provide its support for Pak Prabowo," he continued.

Saan emphasized that NasDem knew himself to provide opportunities for political parties supporting Prabowo to fill the composition of the government cabinet in the future.

"So we give the opportunity first to all supporting parties to fill the posts in the cabinet," said Saan.

"So once again, this is more about ethics and appropriateness, because NasDem is not a supporting party. So if for example NasDem makes a fuss about the cabinet, it feels less than right," he added.

Saan said, NasDem still did not send the name of his cadre as a candidate for minister to Prabowo because he paid attention to ethics, not other factors. However, he said, that does not mean that NasDem takes a position outside the government.

"Once again, NasDem firm joins the government coalition and provides whatever support becomes Pak Prabowo's policies, programs, and decisions," he concluded.

Previously, the NasDem DPP decided not to be included in the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government cabinet. This was conveyed by the Secretary General of the Nasdem DPP, Hermawi Taslim.

Hermawi said that even though he did not join the cabinet, NasDem would still support the Prabowo-Gibran government until it was finished.

Meanwhile, the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said that the elected president Prabowo Subianto had asked the Nasdem Party to send its cadres to become ministerial candidates in his upcoming government.

However, Surya Paloh's party chose to support Prabowo, even though he did not send his cadres to become ministers.

"Yes, previously Pak Prabowo still asked, but because NasDem said that he would still fully support the government even though there were no cadres in the cabinet," said Dasco at the DPR building, Jakarta, Monday, October 14.
