Several European Countries Ready To Support Palestinian Independence

JAKARTA - A number of European countries are ready to provide support and recognition of Palestinian sovereignty. This was conveyed by the Palestinian Ambassador to Russia, Abdel Hafiz Nofal.

He said the Palestinian government was working hard to meet the key objectives of the current Palestinian foreign policy, namely fighting for the recognition of Palestine's independence from countries that have not recognized it.

"About 149 countries have recognized the Palestinian State and there are also a number of European countries that are ready to give recognition again," Ambassador Nofal was quoted as saying by ANTARA on Sunday, October 13.

He conveyed this on the sidelines of solidarity for the Palestinian people and Lebanon which was held by the Venezuelan Embassy in Moscow, Russia.

However, he has not mentioned in detail the European countries in question.

In addition, the Palestinian Ambassador highlighted a number of Latin American countries such as Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, and Nicaragua that had cut off their diplomatic ties with Israel in protest against the aggressiveness of the zionist state against the Palestinian people.

Nofal also believes that Latin American solidarity with Palestine and the human rights of the Palestinian people is not only owned by his government, but also spreads among ordinary people.

The Palestinian diplomatic struggle was carried out amid Israeli aggression that has not stopped at the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 and caused major destruction in the region.

Nearly 42,000 people have been killed and 97,000 others injured in Israeli attacks.

Victims who are still surviving in the Gaza Strip are currently facing water shortages, electricity sources, fuel, food, and medicines acutely due to a prolonged Israeli blockade.

Israel's aggression has divided the Gaza Strip into two regions in the north and south.

Israeli forces did not stop attacking Rafah, which they claim is Hamas' last stronghold, in southern Gaza.
