Aceh Police Detain Women Ex-Caleg Who Spread Immoral Videos

JAKARTA - The Aceh Police have detained a former legislative candidate in the 2024 General Election for allegedly distributing immoral videos.

Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Aceh Police, Kombes Winardy, said the former legislative candidate had the initials MD alias ML (32). MD's detention was based on the victim's report on November 14, 2023.

"MD alias ML was detained on reports of alleged spread of immoral videos through social media. The video was broadcast live on the Tiktok MD account alias ML and watched 3.4K. MD alias ML is a candidate for the 2024 General Election," said Winardy as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, October 12.

When the victim made a police report, said Winardy, the police postponed the handling of the case. This is because the reported party is participating in the election because it is a legislative candidate.

"The postponement is in accordance with the telegram of the National Police Chief regarding the neutrality of the National Police in public services in the field of law enforcement," said Winardy.

Before being detained, MD alias ML was picked up in an apartment in the Depok area, West Java, on Saturday (5/10). The pick-up was because MD alias ML was absent after being summoned by investigators twice as witnesses.

"After undergoing a series of examinations, investigators named MD alias ML as a suspect and detained him since Tuesday (8/10). The suspect MD alias ML was detained at the Aceh Police," said Winardy.

MD alias ML is suspected of violating Article 27 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 45 Paragraph (1) of Law 19 Number 2016 concerning amendments to Law Number 11 Year 2008 concerning information and electronic transactions. As well as Article 29 in conjunction with Article 4 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 44 Year 2008 concerning pornography.

"MD alias ML had moved addresses to avoid investigations until they were finally picked up in an apartment. The evidence in this case included a Tiktok account on behalf of MD alias ML and a smartphone unit," said Winardy.
