NTT Pilkada Survey: Electability Of Melki-Johni 38.7 Percent, Fransiskus-Jane 31.6 Percent, Simon-Adrianus 16.1 Percent

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Election Study Institute (LKPI) released the latest survey results regarding the map of the electoral power of three pairs of candidates for governor and deputy governor for the 2024 East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Pilkada.

As a result, the pair Melki Laka Lena-Johni Asadoma outperformed the other two candidate pairs, namely the Fransiskus Lema-Jane Natalia Suryanto and Simon Petrus Kamlasi-Adrianus Garu.

"The results of the survey conducted through a simulation of open questions directly to respondents show that, if the NTT Pilkada is held today, pair number 02, Melki Laka Lena-Johni Asadoma gets a vote of 38.7 percent," said LKPI Executive Director, Togu Lubis in his statement, Saturday, October 12.

"The second position of candidate pair number 01, Fransiskus Lema-Jane Natalia Suryanto was chosen by 31.6 percent of respondents, candidate pair number 03, Simon Petrus Kamlasi-Adrianus Garu only got 16.1 percent, and 13.6 percent of respondents did not know or did not provide answers," he continued.

While in a closed-ended question simulation using a qualifier, the Melki-Johni pair received 42.7 percent support, Fransiskus-Jane 32.3 percent, and Simon-Adrianus 17.6 percent.

"And 7.4 percent of respondents did not provide answers," he said.

Togu continued, this survey also evaluates the level of determination of respondents' choice of the three pairs of candidates until voting day. The survey results show that 89.4 percent. respondents who chose the Melki Laka Lena - Johni Asadoma pair felt steady with their choice. while 10.6 percent is not yet steady.

For the Fransiskus Lema-Jane pair Natalia Suryanto, 77.3 percent of respondents feel steady, while 22.7 percent are still not steady.

"The pair Simon Petrus Kamlasi-Adrianus Garu got the highest confidence figure, which was 87.2 percent with 12.8 percent of respondents who were still hesitant," explained Togu.

In addition, this survey also measures respondents' assessment of the integrity, competence, and commitment of each pair of candidates in realizing the idea of development for NTT.

The survey results show that as many as 82.7 percent of respondents think that the Melki Laka Lena-Johni Asadoma pair has good integrity, competence, and commitment.

"Meanwhile, the pair of Fransiskus Lema-Jane Natalia Suryanto is assessed by 60.7 percent of respondents as the pair who have these attributes, and the pair Simon Petrus Kamlasi - Adrianus Garu is assessed by 64.7 percent of respondents," said Togu.

The survey also identified the main issues that the public hopes regarding the upcoming government. Based on survey findings, the provision of job opportunities is the most important issue for the community. It was recorded that 25.4 percent of respondents considered this a top priority.

The second issue that is considered important is health insurance and people's welfare with 24.2 percent, followed by the price of affordable staples of 20.9 percent. In addition, 15.3 percent of respondents want affordable education costs and access to public transportation.

"Meanwhile, 14.2 percent of respondents hope that there will be the provision of equitable subsidized fertilizer and the availability of subsidized fuel for fishermen," said Togu.

This survey was conducted in the period 1 - 10 October 2024, involving 1,580 respondents who have the right to vote in East Nusa Tenggara Province.

Examples of respondents were taken randomly from all regencies and cities in East Nusa Tenggara, and interviewed face-to-face.

The margin of error or tolerance for this survey error is up to 2.46 percent with a confidence level of 95 percent.
