Thousands Of People Trapped In Gaza's Jabalia Camp As Israel Attacks

JAKARTA - Thousands of people were trapped in the Jabalia camp in Gaza when Israeli forces attacked the area.

It was reported that 20 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured on Friday, October 11, as a result of an Israeli attack on Jabalia, which also damaged four houses nearby, medics said. The death toll is likely to rise.

Israeli military attacks killed 61 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Friday.

Nearly half of the fatalities, including 20 people who died in the house, occurred in Jabalia, the northern district of Gaza's largest historic refugee camp.

The Israeli military says they killed dozens of militants in Jabalia, although it remains unclear how many of those killed were civilians and not fighters.

"No one is allowed in or out; anyone who tries to get shot," said Mredecins coordinator Sans Frontières Sarah Vuylsteke on X.

"People are starving. I'm afraid to stay, and I'm also afraid to leave," he quoted Haydar, an MSF driver.

Gaza's Civil Defense said dozens of people were injured by Israeli quadcopter drone fire at the same school.

There has been no immediate comment from the Israeli military, which previously said Gaza militants used the shelter for cover. Hamas denies this.

The Israeli military sent troops to the nearby cities of Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya and Jabalia. Hamas said they would continue to fight Israeli forces.
