Still Rantang Despite Being Accused Of Being Antisemite, Greta Thunberg: Palestine Ditindas Rezim Apartheid

JAKARTA - Environmental activist from Sweden, Greta Thunberg attended a climate change demonstration as well as pro-Palestinian action in Milan, Italy, today Friday, October 11.

Wearing a keffiyeh, a traditional scarf that symbolizes the Palestinian struggle against Israel, Thunberg loudly addressed the Palestinian flag-Waving action crowd, holding banners, and dancing to the music strains.

The Palestinians have lived under extreme oppression for decades by the apartheid regime, and over the past year with genocide broadcast live by Israel, the world has once again left Palestine, Thunberg said in his speech, quoted by AFP.

More than 1,000 people, the majority of teenagers, joined in environmental demonstrations and the pro-Palestinian action was enlivened by this peaceful march in Milan.

The action was held Friday's For Future, the climate change movement that Thunberg founded.

Thunberg's presence in Milan after the 21-year-old woman was deemed antisemit after being involved in a demonstration in Germany strongly criticized Israel's invasion of Gaza of thousands of lives.

During a demonstration in Germany, September 4, 2024, Thunberg called on the world community not to remain silent in the face of Israel's genocide in Gaza.

The mass action involved the Student's Against the Occupation calling on Germany's Copenhagen University to cut ties with Israel, including the exchange of climate change programs.

On another occasion, Thunberg also said that the world should speak out against oppression, imperialism, and various forms of discrimination and racism by Israel against Gazans.

What Thunberg did was criticized by the founder of StopAntisemitism Liora Rez. Liora accused Thunberg of spreading hatred against Israel.
