Head Of BNPB Doni Monardo Goes To East Nusa Tenggara

JAKARTA - Head of BNPB (National Agency of Disaster Management) Doni Monardo continues his marathon journey of disaster management. Now, he is heading to Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara to inspect the location of the flash flood disaster.

He said, disasters do not recognize holidays. The implied meaning is, "disaster officers" must always be on alert. Including if you have to go on a marathon trip in the name of disaster management.

"This is not the first incident, where we have to go on a marathon trip from one region to another. After returning to Jakarta, he soon had to leave again for the new disaster site. Well, that's what happened this morning,” said an expert of BNPB (National Agency of Disaster Management) Egy Massadiah at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, East Jakarta, Monday, April 5 ahead of take off to Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara.

Doni's entourage recently made a series of visits related to disasters and handling COVID. From Tuesday, March 30th to Saturday, April 3rd.

"Starting from Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan, continuing to Mamuju, and Palu. The next day to Surabaya, then Bali. On Saturday, we returned to Jakarta, Sunday night, stand by at Halim to go to see the flash floods on Adonara Island, East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara," said Egy.

He added, "since the last night weather at the destination location was not possible, the trip was postponed to this morning, at 05.00 western Indonesia time."

As is known, flash floods hit two villages in East Flores on Sunday, April 4 at 01.00 central Indonesia time. In addition, several other areas in East Nusa Tenggara also experienced the same thing.

Flash floods that were triggered by high rain intensity, hit Nelelamadike Village in Ile Boleng District, Waiwerang Village, and Waiburak Village in East Adonara District, Oyang Barang, and Pandai Village in Wotan Ulumado District, and Waiwadan and Duwanur Villages in West Adonara District.

Also participating in the group of Head of BNPB (National Agency of Disaster Management) this morning was Deputy Governor of East Nusa Tenggara, Josep Nae Soi, Regional Leadership Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) member Yorrys Raweyai and Angelius Wake Koko.
