Ministry Of Health Temporarily Stops Prodi Penyakit Dalam Kandou Hospital Due To Bullying

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health has temporarily suspended the Internal Medicine Science program of the Faculty of Medicine Sam Ratulangi at Prof. Dr. RD Kandou Manado, because it is suspected that there are bullying activities (bullying) and illegal levies.

This was confirmed by the Director General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health, Azhar Jaya.

Azhar explained that the decision was part of their consistency in eliminating bullying in educational hospitals.

"This decision is of course based on a strong basis, such as many reports that come in, strong evidence is found after the Itjen investigation (Inspectorate General), and there has been a previous warning, so we take firm action," he said.

In the letter dated October 5, 2024, it was stated that based on the results of the clarification on complaints on the study program, there were still bullying in the Internal Medicine Study Program.

"There is a request for payment (illegal levies) by PPDS (Special Specialist Doctors Education Participants) Senior for Internal Diseases to PPDS Junior and Prospective PPDS for Internal Diseases," reads the first item of the letter.

Then, the letter also stated that bullying was still happening even though the Ministry of Health had warned. The forms of bullying that occur are threats and verbal and non-verbal violence to PPDSJunior.

"There is an understanding from the Senior PPDS, DPJP (Responsibility Doctor), and Supervisor that incidents of bullying in doctor education are common and happen many other places," reads the results of the third clarification in the letter.

The Ministry of Health asked the President Director of the Kandou Manado Central General Hospital to temporarily freeze the cooperation agreement between the hospital and the Faculty of Medicine, Sam Ratulangi University regarding the program.

This is as a preventive measure to the corrective steps of the two in order to prevent casualties.
