Corruption, Judge Sentenced Palm Oil Company Marketing Staff In Medan 2 Years In Prison

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court (PN), North Sumatra, sentenced a woman named Yenti (30), who was detrimental to the company in the field of oil palm processing.

"Sentenced the defendant Yenti to two years in prison," said Chief Judge Hendra Hutabarat, at the Medan District Court, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 3.

The judge assessed that the defendant's actions, who is a resident of Medan Tembung, Medan City, were believed to have committed a criminal act of embezzlement in his position of harming the company PT Pelita Agung Agrindustri amounting to Rp190.6 million.

"The defendant was proven to have violated Article 374 in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code, as the primary indictment," he said.

Responding to the decision, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office and the defendant Yenti stated whether to file an appeal or accept the verdict.

The verdict was lower than the demands of the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office, Rehulina Sembiring, who previously charged the defendant Yenti with imprisonment for two years and six months.

The Public Prosecutor of the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office, Rehulina, previously stated that this case began in 2021, when the defendant became an employee at PT Pelita Agung Agrindustri.

The defendant Yenti, he continued, worked as a marketing department staff in charge of making cooperation contract documents, payment documents.

"Then, invoices, invoices and bill documents to companies conducting trading activities between PT Pelita Agung Agrindustri and other companies," explained Rehulina.

In carrying out his duties determined by the company, the defendant Yenti often used a stamp of Rp. 10,000, which was obtained from PT Pelita Agung Agrindustri.

However, said the Public Prosecutor, from June 2021 to October 2023, the defendant Yenti could not be held accountable for the use of 19,060 sheets, because she had sold the seal to other people.

"From the results of the seal seller, the defendant admitted that he was used for personal purposes, so that the company PT Pelita Agung Agrindustri suffered a loss of Rp190,600,000," said Public Prosecutor Rehulina.
