Heru Budi Ensures Strict Sanctions For ASN Involved In Repeated Online Gambling

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said that he had taken action against the state civil servants (ASN) of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP who were involved in online gambling.

From the data obtained, the DKI Provincial Government will trace the number of transakis of online gambling that each ASN does. If it is only once, they will be asked to make a statement not to get involved in online gambling again.

Meanwhile, if any ASN is caught doing online gambling repeatedly, Heru ensures that strict sanctions will be imposed.

"We saw the data. If he deliberately did it many times, then of course disciplinary action was taken according to the rules," said Heru when met in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, October 2.

On the one hand, Heru emphasized that online gambling activities are a private domain that cannot be monitored strictly by the DKI Provincial Government.

Thus, Heru used awareness methods by providing psychological guidance to ASN Satpol PP involved in online gambling.

The guidance, which had been running a few days ago, was carried out before the application of sanctions to them.

"There are three stages carried out by Satpol PP. The first is mental development, inviting psychologists and others. Second, in three days it is included in a mental-spirital development activity as a civil servant or ASN," explained Heru.

"Thirdly, yesterday I also asked my husband or wife to be invited for guidance. Hopefully this will be useful for them and I urge them not to use cellphones or other tools to play online gambling," he added.

PPATK found 165 civil servants in the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP playing online gambling. The DKI Jakarta Inspectorate also sent a letter to the Head of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP Arifin to convey this. The letter numbered e.0519/P4.01.00 was signed on September 10, 2024.

"We hereby convey that based on PPATK data sources, there are 165 civil servants in your work environment who are indicated to be carrying out online gambling activities, with names as attached," wrote DKI Jakarta Inspectorate Secretary Dina Himawati in a letter.

In the letter, the names of civil servants who carry out online gambling activities and the nominal transactions they carry out. The DKI Jakarta Inspectorate also asked Arifin to provide guidance to his employees.
