KPK Finds Money While Searching Abdul Gani Kasuba's Children's House In Ternate

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) found a number of evidences while searching the house of the son of former North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba, Muhammad Tariq Kasuba. This finding is suspected to be related to the money laundering crime (TPPU) that is being investigated.

"We found evidence of documents, cash, and other electronic evidence that is suspected to have something to do with the results of the crime above," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, October 1.

Tessa said the house that was searched on Monday, September 30, was in the Ternate area. Furthermore, the evidence was confiscated and will be confirmed to the witnesses summoned by investigators.

In addition, the KPK team also confiscated dozens of assets that were allegedly purchased using money from corruption and disguised by Abdul Gani.

"And today the KPK team has confiscated 43 plots of land and buildings related to the TPPU of the AGK suspect in Termate and Sofifi cities, Tidore Islands City," he explained.

Previously reported, the KPK named the inactive North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba as a suspect in the alleged crime of money laundering (TPPU). He is suspected of washing up to Rp100 billion.

The determination of this suspect was carried out as the development of the alleged bribery of goods and services procurement projects as well as the granting of permits within the North Maluku Provincial Government. As for the previous case, he has been sentenced to 8 years in prison.

Abdul Gani was also required to pay a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to 5 months in prison. Then he was sentenced to pay compensation of Rp. 109.056 billion and US$ 90 thousand no later than one month after the Corruption Court's decision at the Ternate District Court (PN) was declared legally binding.
