JAKARTA - A senior Israeli official accused the United States of endangering the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), for leaking plans for an Israeli land attack in Lebanon.

In his comments to Kan News, the official called the leak of the plan "dangerous", adding it endangered the Israeli army.

"This was done even though the US supported the operation," the official said.

"But obviously for us, the US was worried and therefore they leaked the operation to try to limit it," he continued.

The official also said, "there will be no (diplomatic) arrangements in Lebanon before the operation ends."

As previously reported, Israel notified the United States of the limited land operations they were carrying out focused on Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon near the border with Israel, the US State Department said.

"This is what they have informed us that they are currently carrying out limited operations targeting Hezbollah's infrastructure near the border," US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters.

Asked to confirm that it was a limited land operation, he said: "That's our understanding."
