SURABAYA - The Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) of the City of Surabaya took a tour to check the security of churches in the City of Heroes. This is done to ensure that Christians in Surabaya can carry out their Easter services safely and smoothly.

The checking was carried out by Forkopimda in several churches spread across the city of Surabaya. Namely, the Surabaya Central Pentecostal Church (GPPS), on Jalan Arjuno, Sawahan, Kelahiran Santa Perawan Maria Catholic Church, on Kepanjen Street. Then, Kristus Raja Catholic Church, on Residen Sudirman Street, Pacar Keling, Tambaksari.

Mayor Eri Cahyadi said the security of churches in Surabaya has been tightened. In fact, joint personnel from the Police, TNI, Linmas to Satpol PP have been alerted since morning to ensure that the Easter service runs safely and smoothly.

"God willing, the security will be maintained. Alhamdulillah, the Chief of Police this morning ordered his troops to check all security throughout the church", said Eri.

According to him, the checks carried out with Forkopimda did not only look at the security side of the building. However, checks were also carried out at the location of the parking points to the implementation of health protocols in each church. He hopes that Surabaya will remain a safe and comfortable city to worship.

"We monitor the security, how the parking is, what the health protocol is. Because somehow we really hope that Surabaya will become a safe and comfortable city for worshiping", said Eri.

From the results of this observation, Eri said that churches in Surabaya also appear to be disciplined in implementing health protocols. In fact, the church limits the number of congregants who come to the location. One of them is Kelahiran Santa Perawan Maria Catholic Church, on Kepanjen Street, Surabaya.

"Earlier it was said that the health protocol was still being carried out. So from 2,000 if it was normal, now there are 375 congregants. So that the church continues to carry out worship, but continues to implement and tighten its health protocols", he explained.

Also, said Eri Cahyadi, joint personnel was also alerted to secure parking spots for the congregation's cars and motorbikes. To maximize this, the majority of church administrators in Surabaya concentrate their parking spaces, not in the same location.

"Car park security, motorbike parking is not in one place, in different places. So there is a distance before the entrance. So when parking the motorbike, parking the car, we have checked first, after that we enter the church area", he said.

He emphasized that Forkopimda Surabaya will continue to work together, to ensure the safety and comfort of the people of worship.

"We, Forkopimda Surabaya wholeheartedly join hands, to provide security for Christians to carry out Easter Friday", he said.

Therefore, Eri Cahyadi advised Christians in Surabaya not to be afraid to come to church. For him, prayer and worship are the most powerful help to save mankind from danger. According to him, no matter how great humans are, without the help of God it will be useless.

"God willing, if we believe, we pray, people who will commit evil hearts will be turned by God into a sincere heart, a good heart. So that no longer do actions that can cause trouble for other people", said Eri Cahyadi.
