Russia Asks Israel To Leave Terrorist Methods In Solving Political Problems

JAKARTA - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov urged Israel to abandon terrorist methods in resolving political issues.

This was conveyed by Lavrov while commenting on Hassan Nasrallah's murder, the leader of the Hezbollah armed group in Lebanon.

At a news conference in New York on Saturday, Lavrov said he had the impression that Israel was trying to provoke Iran and Hezbollah to withdraw US involvement in the conflict in the Middle East.

The Russian diplomat assessed that the Nasrallah murder was not Israel's first provocative attempt.

In July, Ismail Haniyeh, a high-ranking Palestinian resistance group Hamas, was killed in Tehran while in the Iranian capital to attend the funeral of President Ebrahim Raisi. Previously, Israel attacked Iran's diplomatic mission in Damascus, Syria.

"It seems Israel wants to create a reason for the US to engage in this war," Lavrov said, adding that Israel had provoked Iran and Hezbollah.

"In a situation like this, Iran's leadership is very responsible," he said, quoted from Anadolu via Antara, Sunday, September 29.

Lavrov said bloodshed had to be stopped. He considered Israel to have no peace plans, including complying with UN Security Council resolutions.

He likened Israel's actions to Ukraine which provoked NATO's direct involvement in the fight against Russia.
