JAKARTA Google Meet is one of the video conferencing applications that is widely used for online meetings. This application is available on various devices, both mobile phones, computers, and smart TVs.

This platform can be accessed on smart televisions such as Android TV and Google TV. However, the majority of Google Meet users use this application more on simpler devices and can be taken anywhere, such as cell phones and computers.

With the lack of Google Meet usage on Android TV and Google TV, Google decided to close the application for reasons called depreciation. It is not yet known when this application was officially removed from the two smart TV models.

The news of the closure of this application is still stored in code form, but the Android Authority managed to find it. In the code, an announcement may be made to the user's television screen in the future.

Google Meet was first added to smart TV in 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic hit and users were required to work from home. This application was originally only available on Android TV OS with the name Duo.

Shortly after that, the duo changed its name to Google Meet. The function of this application is indeed very helpful for workers who are at home and want to have a comfortable meeting. The reason is, users can attend meetings with larger screens.

To use Google Meet on Android TV and Google TV, users only need to connect the webcam to the device. However, the fact that this video conferencing platform is rarely used forced Google to remove it from the built-in system.
