JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo strongly condemns the Israeli attack on Lebanon that has occurred since Monday (23/9) and has resulted in the death toll of more than 500 people.

"Indonesia strongly condemns the Israeli attack on Lebanon," said the President giving a press statement in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) area, East Kalimantan, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 25.

President Jokowi asked the United Nations (UN) and also all countries to respond quickly to the Israeli attack so as not to cause more casualties.

"We invite all countries and the United Nations to respond quickly so that no more casualties occur in Israeli attacks," the President said.

President Jokowi has also contacted Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi regarding the plan to repatriate Indonesian citizens in Lebanon.

"I have called the Foreign Minister, it is also in process," said the President.

Previously, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi had also responded to Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon which have been launched since Monday (23/9) and continued on Tuesday (24/9).

This was conveyed by Foreign Minister Retno on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York, United States, Tuesday (24/9) local time.

"We are seeing this situation and we strongly condemn the Israeli attack on Lebanon which resulted in the victims of hundreds of civilian lives, including children," said Retno.

This attack, according to Retno, adds to tensions amid a situation in the Middle East that is facing a humanitarian crisis.

"Especially because of the authorities, the atrocities that the Israelis continue to commit to the Palestinians. Violence and aggression like this should not become a normalnew," the Foreign Minister emphasized.
