JATENG - Heavy rains that hit Pekalongan City from Sunday, September 22 night until Monday, September 23 morning caused a number of areas to experience flooding.

Head of the Water Resources Division of the Pekalongan City Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, Purwo Susetyo, tried to reduce flooding, his party optimized the operation of pump houses.

"We are trying our best by operating optimally all pumps to reduce flood inundation in a number of affected areas," he said in Pekalongan, Central Java, Monday, September 23, which was confiscated by Antara.

A number of areas that were flooded included Jalan Kurinci, Jalan Slamet, Krapyak Lor, Jalan Jlamprang, Patiunus, and Jalan Semarang.

He said his party had also coordinated with the Central Java Pusdaru Service and the Pemali Juana River Basin Center in handling the flood.

As for the handling of puddles on Jalan Kurinci and Jalan Slamet, he said, there were indeed problems because when operating a pump on Jalan Slamet, it would have an impact on flooding in Bendingsari and Kampung Baru.

"Meanwhile, on Jalan Surabaya, Jalan Patiunus, and Jalan Jlamprang all pumps have been operating, but due to the high rainwater discharge, it takes time to reduce flood inundation," he said.

"We hope that large pumps located at the Loji River Motion Dam managed by BBWS Pemali Juana can operate as soon as possible so that they can maximize flood and tidal management in this area," he said.
