JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan will test the opening of schools in the capital with face-to-face learning on Wednesday, April 7.

Head of School Field and PKLK Division of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Education Office, Momon Sulaeman, said that the opening of schools was carried out at the elementary, junior high, high school, vocational, and madrasah levels.

"There are 100 prospective schools to open. They are spread across almost every municipality in Jakarta. There are public and private schools", Momon said when contacted, Wednesday, March 31.

Momon explained that currently 100 schools that are planned to be opened as face-to-face learning pilot projects are being assessed.

"The 100 schools are still in process, right? If, for example, 100 of them have passed, then 100 schools will be opened. For example, there are those that may have to be postponed. This is still a process", he said.

Separately, DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria admitted that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is conducting a study on the opening of schools and other educational institutions. This was done after the central government allowed it.

However, plans to open schools are also still being studied while waiting for the new school year in July. Riza said the DKI Provincial Government is still listening to input from health, education experts, to the central COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

"We are looking for which schools might serve as pilot projects, face-to-face places for piloting. It could be 50 schools, 100 schools, we will see", said Riza.

It is known, the plan to open this school is contained in the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Minister of Education and Culture, Minister of Religion, Minister of Health, and Minister of Home Affairs regarding Implementation Guidelines during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim said, although schools at all levels of education are required to open, some conditions must be met.

First, all teachers and education personnel must have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Then, the school also still has to serve the online distance learning (PJJ) option.

"So, like it or not, even though vaccination has been completed, it is mandatory to provide limited face-to-face meetings. But it still has to go through a rotation system. So it must provide both face-to-face and distance learning options", said Nadiem on Tuesday, March 30.
