Threatened By Senpi, The Cabub-Cawabub Paslon Access Team In West Aceh Asked To Stop Fighting For Candidates

JAKARTA Zakaria B, a successful team (timses) pair of candidates for regent and deputy regent who ran in the 2024 Pilkada received threats from two men armed with guns (senpi), Saturday morning, September 21, at around 02.30 WIB.

"We are still investigating this threatening case, we have dispatched personnel to the location to conduct an investigation," said Meureubo Police Chief, West Aceh Regency, AKP Agus Purwanto, ANTARA, Sunday, September 22.

The threat of firearms was experienced by Zakaria B, a blind team member when he was about to return to his home in Ranto Panyang Timur Village, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency.

The location of the victim's threats allegedly occurred across the street, precisely in front of the winning post of a candidate pair for regent and deputy regent.

When he was about to return home, victim Zakaria B admitted that he was approached by two unknown men riding an RX-King motorcycle and asked the victim not to fight for a candidate for regent.

The victim was also asked by the perpetrator to hold the object suspected of being a firearm carried by the perpetrator.

AKP Agus Purwanto said the case is currently still being investigated by the local police to follow up on information that has been pocketed by the police.

The police chief also admitted that he had visited the Police Headquarters to make a report, and for the time being the police were still investigating the information obtained.

"In order to create a safe and comfortable atmosphere in the community, the police have also increased patrols, including conducting closed patrols," he said.

Meanwhile, West Aceh Regent H Kamaruddin's candidate to ANTARA on Sunday said the alleged threat to use a firearm experienced by a successful team had been reported to the police.

"The threat to use firearms is an attempt to disrupt democracy, these are disrespectful and uncivilized ways," he said.

According to him, the threatening action experienced by a successful team in Ranto Panyang Timur Village, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency on Saturday morning, was a childhood act and undermined Aceh's peace which had been very safe and conducive.

"Why are we threatening to use firearms, if we dare to shoot, why threaten the small community," he said.

H Kamaruddin said his party had fully handed over the threatening case to the police in West Aceh.

"We leave all the investigations to the police, we are sure the police can catch the culprit," said H Kamaruddin.
