KPU Sets The Number Of DPT West Java Gubernatorial Elections In 2024 As Many As 35,925,960 People

The General Election Commission (KPU) of West Java Province has set a permanent voter list (DPT) in the 2024 West Java Governor and Deputy Governor Elections as many as 35,925,960 people, or more than the DPT for the 2024 General Election.

"The DPT was recorded at 35,925,960 people in West Java with a number of polling stations of 73,835 polling stations," said West Java Provincial KPU chairman Ummi Wahyuni after the plenary meeting of the DPT recapitulation in Bandung, Sunday.

This figure, according to Ummi, has increased by 211,059 people from voter data in the election, February 14, 2024, which recorded 35,714,901 people.

However, when compared to the temporary voter list (DPS), he said, the number of DPT decreased by 40,880 people after updating the data.

"There were those who died, then there were those who moved, the decrease was in 27 districts/cities," he said.

So far 122,000 double names have been found in the voter list. However, he said, it had been completed in verification.

As time went on, continued Ummi, there were 18 remaining double voters who were also found by the West Java Provincial Bawaslu. This is also a long discussion during the plenary meeting to determine the DPT because it has not been resolved until now.

"That's because the doubles are between provinces. We enter the duplicate data because it's different personally. It only took time because the connection to this policy was with the Disdukcapil. That's why it had to be taken biometrically or otherwise," he said, quoted by Antara.

In addition, it was also disclosed by the Ummi that the tough discussion was also because a re-check had to be carried out by the West Java Provincial Bawaslu as a form of transparency of the West Java Province KPU.

"We also provide opportunities for Bawaslu for West Java Province or other stakeholders in this recapitulation meeting to provide input. We went directly to the spot for a cross-check. This is for transparency," he said.
