Defamation Case, Former Deputy Chairman Of The Sampang DPRD Thrown Into Prison

SAMPANG - The District Attorney (Kejari) of Sampang Regency, East Java executed former Deputy Chairman of the Sampang DPRD Fauzan Adima (FA) for the 2019-2024 period to prison. Fauzan was convicted of defamation against fellow DPRD members.

"The detention this afternoon was around 13.00 WIB," said the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Sampang Kejari, Suharso, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 19.

Previously, the Sampang Kejari carried out two execution calls to Fauzan Adima, after this institution received a copy of the case decision from the Supreme Court (MA) rejecting Fauzan's appeal.

Fauzan Adima, who is currently serving a sentence at the Class IIB Sampang State Detention Center (Rutan), is a reported defamation case against a fellow member of the Sampang DPRD.

The case began when Fauzan had an argument with Haji Madud on July 8, 2023 at the Tambelangan Market T-junction, Sampang.

At that time, Fauzan had stated to Madud that he often had sex with his wife, Sri Rustiana.

"Tia", the politician's nickname from the Democratic Party, did not accept Fauzan Adima's statement and reported Fauzan to the Sampang Police Headquarters on August 25, 2023, on charges of slander and defamation.

On September 11, 2023, the Sampang Police investigator team named Fauzan as a suspect.

During the trial, Fauzan, who is a Gerindra Party politician, was found guilty and sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison on January 18, 2024.

Fauzan did not accept the decision and filed an appeal, but the High Court's verdict was burdensome, which increased by two months, to 1 year and 6 months.

Furthermore, at the cassation level, Fauzan's submission was rejected and the Supreme Court actually upheld the decision of PT which sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months.

"So referring to the Supreme Court's decision, we carried out the execution, and since today, Fauzan Adima has served a sentence at the Class IIB Sampang Detention Center," said Sampang Prosecutor Suharso.
