Without Legal Documents, 106 Kg Of Pork From Batam Detained By The Southeast Sulawesi Quarantine Center

KENDARI - The Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Center has thwarted the smuggling of 106 kilograms of pork and duck eggs without documents or illegal.

One of the Southeast Sulawesi Quarantine officers, Nichlah Rifqiah, said that the illegal pork and duck eggs came from Batam which was about to be put into the Southeast Sulawesi region through Haluoleo Airport by airplane on Monday, September 16.

"We found quarantine officers in a styrofoam with cardboard and sacks from Batam without being equipped with quarantine documents from the area of origin," Nichlah said when met in Kendari, Antara, Wednesday, September 18.

After finding the illegal meat and duck eggs, his party immediately detained them because they did not have a sanitation certificate for animal quarantine products.

"We detained it after learning that the meat was not equipped with a sanitation certificate for animal quarantine products or KH-12 from the area of origin and did not report it and handed it over to quarantine officers at designated income and expenses," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Law Enforcement Working Team of the Southeast Sulawesi Quarantine Center Abd. Rachman said that the detention of illegal pork and duck eggs was in accordance with the provisions of Law no. 21 of 2019 article 35 paragraph (1) letters a and c concerning Animal Quarantine, Fish and Plants.

"To pass through the animal-carrying medium or the product must be equipped with a health certificate from the area of origin, detention is carried out and the owner is given 3 days to complete the quarantine document," said Abd. Rachman.

He added that in carrying out detention measures, the Central Sulawesi Quarantine coordinated with the relevant agencies, namely Haluoleo Airport.

"So, owners who will cross animal products must meet all document requirements and ensure that the trafficked animals are healthy so that there is no detention in the destination area as an effort to prevent the entry of quarantine animal disease pests (HPHK) in the Southeast Sulawesi region," he added.
