JAKARTA - Details about the suspect's history of the Donald Trump shooter are slowly revealing. Oran, the son of Routh, spoke to US media, describing him as a caring and loving father figure.

"I don't know what happened in Florida, and I hope it's all disproportionate, because from the bit I've heard, it looks like people I know won't do something crazy, let alone violence," Oran said in a statement to CNN. and quoted by VOI, Monday, September 16.

BBC Verify has found a social media profile that fits the name. They indicated that Routh called for foreign fighters to go to Ukraine to fight against Russian troops.

There are also pro-Palestinian, pro-Taiwan, and anti-Chinese messages on its profile, including accusations of China's "biological war" and references to the Covid-19 virus as an "attack".

Routh, who has no military experience, told the New York Times in 2023 that he had traveled to Ukraine immediately after the Russian invasion in 2022 to seek military recruitment among Afghan soldiers fleeing the Taliban.

He appears to have been involved in recent recruitment efforts this summer, writing on Facebook in July: "The soldiers, please don't contact me. We are still trying to get Ukraine to accept the Afghan army and look forward to getting some answers in the coming months... Please be patient."

Preliminary reports suggest that Routh has a criminal record. According to a CBS source, Ryan Routh was charged and convicted of a number of serious crimes in Guilford County in North Carolina between 2002 and 2010.

The criminal act includes carrying a hidden weapon, fighting arrests by police officers, driving with a revoked driver's license, possessing stolen goods, and hitting a motorized vehicle.
