PALESTINA - A Palestinian paramedics were killed in Israeli prison after being arrested at a medical complex in Khan Younis, southern region of the Gaza Strip, Gaza's Ministry of Health said on Saturday.

Quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, September 15, the ministry confirmed the death of a medical worker named Hamdan Abu Anaba while in Israeli detention, as conveyed by World First Rescue Day via Telegram.

Anaba and his colleagues were arrested while carrying out their duties as medical personnel at Nasser Medical Complex in December, the ministry said.

The ministry also called on international groups and human rights organizations to investigate the fate of dozens of health workers detained from hospitals while carrying out their humanitarian duties.

World First Rescue Day, which is celebrated annually on the second Saturday of September, was announced in 2000 by the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent Moon.

More than 885 medical personnel have been killed and 310 others detained since the war in Gaza began in October, Palestinian state media office said on September 10.

On December 2 last year, Israeli forces arrested four paramedics, including Anaba, although they had coordinated earlier, as they were heading north from Khan Yunis in the south to evacuate injured victims.

Despite UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel continues its brutal attacks on Gaza following the Hamas attack in October.

More than 41,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed, and more than 95,000 people have been injured, according to local health authorities.

Israeli attacks have also caused nearly the entire population of the region to flee amid ongoing blockades, resulting in severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicines.

Israel faces allegations of genocide over its actions in Gaza in the International Court.
