South Korean President Condemns Missile Testing, Kim Jong-un's Sister: Doesn't Make Sense

JAKARTA - North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister, Kim Yo-jong, criticized South Korean President Moon Jae-in commenting on North Korea's missile launch test last week.

Last week, North Korea tested two ballistic missiles into the sea near Japan. This marks the progress and stability of North Korea's weapons program, increasing pressure on the United States.

President Moon Jae-in commented on the launch as saying it was "worrying", advising Seoul, Pyongyang and Washington not to create obstacles to talks, while making efforts to resume dialogue.

Kim Yo-jong called Moon's remarks embarrassing because he agreed with the United States, which condemned the missile test and said North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile programs posed a serious threat to international peace and security.

"The unreasonable and impudent-faced behavior of South Korea is exactly the same as US gangster-like logic," Kim Yo-jong said in a statement published by KCNA.

North Korea said on Friday that it had launched a new type of short-range tactical ballistic missile. United States President Joe Biden said the test violated a UN Security Council resolution, but he remained open to diplomacy with Pyongyang.

Meanwhile, the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee also criticized North Korea's missile test as a violation of UN resolutions. This was followed by calls for additional sanctions, as well as tightening oversight of the implementation of current measures.
