PDIP-PSI Compact Wants Heru Budi To Return To Acting Position Until Jakarta Governors And Governors Who Win The 2024 Pilkada Are Inaugurated

JAKARTA - The term of office of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono will end on October 17, 2024. Meanwhile, the inauguration of the regional head who won the 2024 Pilkada will be carried out at the earliest in January 2025.

The DPRD will hold a joint leadership meeting to discuss the names that will be proposed to serve as Acting Governor of Jakarta. So far, two party factions in the DPRD have revealed their proposals, namely PDIP and PSI.

Member of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Jhonny Simanjuntak, proposed Heru to return to his position as Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta until the replacement of the definitive Governors and Deputy Governors of Jakarta.

"From my point of view, yes, this is only 3-4 months left, I think from my personal (income) well, he (Heru) is the only one who continues as Acting Governor," said Jhonny in his statement, Monday, September 9.

Jhonny assessed that Heru's position would be better extended to lead Jakarta over the next few months. Given, it is only a few months left for Jakarta to be led by the Acting Governors before the elected Governors of the 2024 Pilkada results take office.

Moreover, if the new Acting Governor is chosen, Jhonny views that the person concerned will take longer to adjust his new position.

"Pak Heru is worthy and if he changes his position again, it's a bit awkward, because this is only three months. If he comes (Pj Gubernur) who will only be back later, at least he has to learn another year, what's the point," said the politician from the PDI-P.

Similarly, member of the PSI faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Elva Farhi Qolbina, also encouraged Heru's term of office to be extended. In the remaining term of office of the Acting Governor, which has only been for a few months, Heru is considered capable of ensuring that all programs run smoothly and effectively.

"Pak Heru has shown his ability to maintain government stability and play an important role in this transitional period, especially when Jakarta is heading to a new status as a Special Region for Jakarta (DKJ)," said Elva.

It is known, in a joint leadership meeting of the DPRD which will be held on September 11, each faction will propose a maximum of three names as candidates for the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta.

After the name is collected, the DKI Jakarta DPRD will forward this proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs to be forwarded to the President who has the authority to choose one of the proposed names of the Acting Governor candidates.

Heru had previously responded to this. The head of the Presidential Secretariat admitted that he did not know whether his term of office would end next month or be extended again.

"October 17 is the year I served two years as Governor. It's up to me to give me a task," said Heru in Kuningan, South Jakarta, Friday, September 6.

According to Heru, the authority to replace his position is in the hands of the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian. "Replaced or not, it's up to the Minister of Home Affairs. After all, I carry out the duties as submitted to me," said Heru.
