Pramono-Rano Karno Figures Still Determinant Despite Cak Lontong As Vote Getter

JAKARTA PPI Executive Director Adi Prayitno assessed that the figures of the Pramono Anung and Rano Karno pair preferred the pair's victory in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada even though they had chosen Lies Hartono or Cak Lontong as the Chair of the winning team.

"Still what voters see is a candidate figure, not who is the team, who is the public figure, who is the celebrity. They (public figures) are only limited to complement, complement to political strategies, not the main thing," he said, Sunday, September 8, 2024.

However, Adi did not deny that the selection of Cak Lontong in the Pramono-Rano camp was able to boost the candidate pair vote promoted by the PDI-P. According to him, as a comedian popular in Indonesia, Cak Lontong is certainly expected to act as a vote getter.

"Of course the hope is that when Cak Lontong becomes the head of the timses, people who know Cak Lontong can be capitalized and directed to support Pramono and Rano Karno," he added.

He also saw other factors behind the election of Cak Lontong by candidate pair Pramono-Rano. Adi assessed that they wanted to create a calm and different political atmosphere from the 2017 Pilkada. In addition, public figures including the cast of the series 'Si Doel Anak Sekolah' who entered the timses were considered a strategy to thicken Betawi's face in order to attract votes.

"I think this is to revive the memory of Jakarta residents who are also Betawi natives. By displaying the faces of Si Doel players whose Betawi aroma is quite thick, I hope that Betawi voters will choose Pramono-Rano," he said.

"The thickening of its Betawian residents is the entry of a figure who is included in the winning team made with its chairman Cak Lontong. The important thing is there is the vote getter and thickening the identity of the Betawian which is quite attached," concluded Adi Prayitno.
