BMKG Calls There Are Five Aftershocks In Gianyar Bali

JAKARTA - There were five aftershocks that rocked Gianyar, Bali, until Saturday at 13.55 WIB, as reported by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

"The five series of aftershocks have a small magnitude of 2.6 magnitudes -- 1.8 magnitudes," said Head of the Center for MKG Region III Denpasar Cahyo Nugroho in a report received in Jakarta, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, September 7.

He ensured that the earthquake had absolutely nothing to do with the megathrust zone and had no impact on causing a tsunami, so the public was expected to remain calm while continuing to increase vigilance and continue to follow the development of information from the BMKG.

Previously, BMKG reported an earthquake measuring 4.9 magnitudes rocked Gianyar Bali at 10.51 WIB.

The results of the analysis found that the epicenter of the earthquake was located on land at a distance of two kilometers northeast of Gianyar, Bali with a depth of 10 kilometers.

The earthquake was a shallow earthquake due to active fault activity on land in Bali. Based on the results of the analysis, it shows that the earthquake has a downward movement mechanism (Normal Fault).

Apart from Gianyar, the earthquake was also felt for a while in Tabanan, Badung, Denpasar, Klungkung with a scale of IV - III MMI. Even up to Mataram City, East Lombok, Central Lombok, and West Lombok, with an intensity scale of III MMI.

BMKG confirmed that until now there has been no impact of damage reported by the community due to the earthquake.
