Forward To The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election, Rano Karno Officially Resigns From Members Of The DPR

JAKARTA - The candidate for Deputy Governor of Jakarta Rano Karno has officially resigned from members of the DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period in line with his candidacy for the Jakarta Pilkada. Rano's resignation letter has also been processed by the Secretariat General of the DPR RI. Secretary General of the DPR RI Indra Iskandar has issued a certificate that Rano has resigned from Member of the DPR RI PDI Perjuangan Faction (PDIP) for the Banten III election area. The certificate was signed on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Rano will also resign as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2024-2029 period before the inauguration of the new member of parliament. "It is true that the member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia with Member Number 227 from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle Faction for the 2019-2024 period who submitted his resignation and is in the process of dismissal as a Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives," Indra wrote in a statement quoted on Friday, September 6. The candidate for Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung-Rano Karno will register for the 2024 Pilkada to the DKI Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) on August 28, 2024. After verifying the registration file, the DKI Jakarta KPU stated that Pramono-Rano's candidacy status had not met the requirements because there were several documents that had not been submitted. The other cagub-cawagub pairs, namely Ridwan Kamil-Suswono and Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana, are also declared ineligible. In Pramono-Rano's registration file, the DKI Jakarta KPU has not yet received Rano's resignation letter from his position as a Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives. This is one of the factors in Pramono-Rano's registration documents that have not met the requirements. "What we ask to complete is that his resignation letter to a political party has been carried out, but we ask that it be completed, including a certificate that the process of resignation is being processed from the secretary general of the DPR," said Chairman of the DKI Jakarta KPU Wahyu Dinata. "Then because he was elected as a candidate for DPR member in 2024, we asked the Indonesian KPU for a letter from the political party to resign as a candidate for the DPR. So that the RI KPU members will change candidates. That's what we are waiting for to be completed," he continued.

The KPU also provides opportunities for prospective candidate pairs to repair their candidacy files for 3 days, starting from September 6 to 8, 2024.
