JAKARTA - The Class I Immigration Office of Non-TPI Central Jakarta deported two British citizens, BJL and BTS, because they were caught conducting speeches at an online motorcycle taxi demonstration in Jakarta on Thursday, August 29.
"The demonstration area is an area that is prohibited for foreigners," said Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Silmy Karim, through an official statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, September 5.
They were observed conducting speeches amid demonstrations of online motorcycle taxi drivers around the Horse Statue, Monas, Central Jakarta. Then, Head of the Class I Immigration Office of Non-TPI Central Jakarta Ronald Arman Abdullah ordered the team to secure and examine the two.
Based on the examination, continued Silmy, explained that BJL and BTS came to Indonesia on vacation visas. This means that the two British citizens are guests in Indonesia.
“Tapi mereka malah ikut orasi. Ini jelas, ada pelanggaran terhadap aturan imigrasi,” tegas Dirjen Imigrasi.
For this violation, Immigration deported and banned the two British citizens. They were declared to have violated Article 75 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.
BJL and BTS were detained for six days, before being flown to their home country via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Wednesday (4/9), at independent costs.
"I appreciate the performance of the Central Jakarta Immigration Office because it has acted responsively against the potential for foreign disturbances that arise," said Silmy.
In addition, the Director General of Immigration appealed to foreign nationals (WNA) in Indonesia to always obey the rules and respect customs and culture, in order to create a conducive environment.
“ To provide a deterrent effect and maintain the muruah of the Indonesian government, immigration officers throughout Indonesia carry out surveillance, both in urban areas and at the border. Where there are foreigners who violate the rules, we will take action,” said Silmy.
