Makassar Bombing, DKI Deputy Governor Asks Residents To Report Suspicious Actions Of People

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria asked residents to report to the authorities if they saw any suspicious behavior. This appeal is to anticipate acts of terror such as the Makassar bombing case, South Sulawesi.

"What is no less important is the efforts of the community to help us all take precautions. If there is information, suspicious behavior should be reported to us immediately or directly to the security apparatus, to the police", said Deputy Governor Riza at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Monday, March 29.

He said the community's preventive efforts were being made to prevent the recurrence of suicide bombings such as the one in Makassar, in addition to monitoring efforts by the security apparatus.

This is because, according to Deputy Governor Riza, the capital in a region is usually the target of acts of terrorism, including Jakarta.

"Hopefully with good cooperation, the bombing incident did not occur in Jakarta and other places after the incident yesterday", he said.

A suicide bombing rocked the Cathedral Church, Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Sunday, March 28. Dozens of people were recorded as injured. Meanwhile, the perpetrators are said to be two people, who are male and female.

From the identification results, it was found that the male suicide bomber had the initials L. While the female perpetrator was still identified.

Based on the database, the perpetrators of this suicide bombing were a large terrorist network. This network had spread terror in the Philippines.

This suicide bombing is also closely related to the arrest of dozens of suspected terrorists in Makassar. This is because the perpetrators and suspected terrorists who were arrested by Densus 88 Anti-terror in January 2021 were the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) network.

President Joko Widodo said that with this incident the community was asked to remain calm. People are also asked to participate in fighting acts of terrorism.

"I ask the public to remain calm in carrying out worship because the state guarantees the safety of religious people to worship without fear", said Jokowi.

"I invite all members of society to work together to fight terrorism, to fight radicalism that is against religious values, our noble values as a nation that upholds divine values and upholds the values of diversity", he continued.

Jokowi also prayed for the victims to recover quickly. At least 14 people were recorded as injured as a result of the suicide

In fact, for the victims, all medical expenses will be borne by the state. So, they don't need to think about costs and focus on restoring their condition.

"For the injured victims, we pray for immediate healing, and the state guarantees all medical and care costs for the victims", said Jokowi.
